Madonna is set to try her hand as a designer and launch her very first clothing collection – which, very aptly, will be named ‘Material Girl.’

    Yes, you heard correctly.

Not content with conquering the music world, and dabbling occasionally in the movie and modeling industries, the megastar has decided she now wants to share her design talents with us all.

Madge is joining forces with Iconix Brand Group Inc – the company behind such labels as Badgley Mischka and Candie’s – to launch her own empire, MG Icon.

Joining forces with Iconix to bring my fashion ideas to consumers is very exciting for me,’ says Madonna.

Her first collection will be a Junior Range – the aforementioned Material Girl line – and will launch exclusively Stateside in Macy’s stores and in August.

Madonna got daughter Lourdes on board to help with the youthful designs, which will include clothing, footwear, bags and jewellery – with prices ranging from a very affordable $12 to $40.

But it doesn’t end there. Oh no. Come 2011 and Madonna plans to extend her range to include beauty and fragrance, so soon we can all start dressing, looking and smelling like the queen of pop.

We’ll keep you posted as more details – and hopefully, pictures! – emerge, so watch this space…
