Our Fashion Director Jayne Pickering gives us the inside scoop on the hottest shop to open in London this year

Last night, I went to the fabulous Christopher Kane's first-ever store opening. At his swanky new address in the heart of Mayfair, London's boy wonder is now all grown up and playing neighbours with some serious fashion giants: Christian Louboutin, Lanvin and Marc Jacobs, to name but a few.

The store, designed by renowned architect John Pawson, is quite frankly incredible. Clean white and minimalistic, with special touches such as Perspex stack shelving and glass display cabinets that make SS15's tulle explosion dresses look museum-worthy, it's all very Kane.

Over Laurent-Perrier champagne and a couple of cheese straws, we mingled with Christopher's army of It-girl fans. Salma Hayek, Yasmin Le Bon and Laura Carmichael all stunned in the designer's latest collection and rallied to support their friend on his big night.

Always the hottest ticket of London Fashion Week, the designer is a master of so many things. Shop here, and it's safe to assume you'll come out with a perfectly crafted embroidered dress, perhaps a classic tux jacket with an unexpected twist, or one of his new classics, a safety buckle bag. Or maybe you'll be tempted by all of the above.

Christopher's new Mount Street base (open to the public from today) is the perfect backdrop for his divine creations: an art gallery, if you will, for one of London's brightest fashion talents to display his own works, exactly as he intended them.
