There have been many sell-out dresses this summer, from Zara's linen dress to Boden's polka dot dress, so it's a bit hard to know which ones were worth investing in.

Now new stats by influencer shopping app LIKEtoKNOW.it have revealed the top three dresses everyone is buying at the moment, to settle the matter once and for all.

According to the site, the most popular dresses for summer have come from retailers Warehouse, ASOS and Debenhams.

1. The Warehouse linen dress

First off, we have this white button-down linen number from Warehouse, which was seen on countless editors and influencers. It is sadly sold out in white, testament to its popularity - however it's still available in other colours, like this khaki one, my favourite as it taps into the utility trend.

2. The ASOS ruffle maxi dress

The good news is you can still get a hold of this yellow ASOS’ Ruffle Maxi Dress, which the second most popular dress in the app, and I can see why. Yellow is a huge trend this summer, and the ruffles make the look ultra romantic.

3. The Studio by Preen for Debenhams dress

Shop now: Studio by Preen - Pale blue floral print chiffon V-neck maxi dress for £60 from Debenhams

This floral beauty, as seen on blogger Josie, is the perfect wedding guest dress, which you can dress up with gold sandals, or down with white sneakers. Plus it's currently half price in the sale, so get in there quick.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
