Why Rob Pattinson is game for a laugh

The Twilight heartthrob has said that he’d love to star in a romantic comedy – he’s just waiting for the right script

Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson says he'd love to star in a romantic comedy - he's just waiting for the right script to come along.

After wooing millions of teenage girls (as well as a large portion of the older generation) with his role as brooding vampire Edward Cullen, it comes as little surprise that R-Patz would look to take on another romantic lead.

But the comedy part? For some reason, we find that harder to imagine...

The Twilight-er told GMTV that he's already been offered a whole handful of laugh-out-loud scripts, but that none of them have appealed to his sense of humour.

‘I'd love to, but they are always just so rubbish,' he said. ‘I'd absolutely love to do it, but I've literally never read a good rom-com script.'

But, realistic as ever, he admits that he's not going to be knocking rom-com king Hugh Grant off his throne anytime soon...

‘I think it's such a typical career choice for me, as well, to be honest,' he said.

‘If you do a big franchise thing - especially for English guys - you then try and do a Hugh Grant part or something. Which I don't think would be the best idea for me - 'mainly because it's quite difficult to be Hugh Grant!
