Your eyes don’t deceive you, George Clooney really is to star in Downton Abbey – and we’ve got the trailer to prove it.

The one-off short film has been produced by the cast for ITV’s Text Santa fund-raiser which will air on the terrestrial channel later this month. In anticipation, the good people at ITV have released a short teaser, revealing the new high-profile guest to be stopping by the Crawley family – Lord George Clooney.

While the clip doesn’t reveal who Clooney will be playing or why he’s there, American character Cora appears to mistake Clooney’s character for Lord Grantham, but everything else about him remains a mystery. Clooney doesn't speak in the trailer but looks every bit the dashing, debonair gent you’d expect.

Will he be the man who can finally sweep Lady Mary off of her feet?
