  • Tom Cruise upset as he describes Jett’s death as ‘horrific’

Tom Cruise has poignantly spoken out in support of his good friend John Travolta – describing his 16-year-old son Jett’s death as ‘horrific’.

The Valkyrie actor made his comments during an interview on American chat show, The View.

And has he spoke, the actor couldn’t hold back a choke in his throat.

‘John just adored him, both of his children,’ he faltered, before continuing: ‘It’s something that I don’t have the words for.’

The 46-year-old star described Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston as ‘doting parents, just wonderful people’.

The star couple also have an eight-year-old daughter, Ella Bleu.

Jett died on a family holiday in the Bahamas on 2 January 2009.

A Bahamas undertaker said the teen’s death certificate listed ‘seizure’ as the cause of death.

Rumours about Scientology  – the religion followed by Cruise and Travolta – and its beliefs towards medication have been swirling since Jett’s death.

But Cruise dismissed the suggestion that the church discourages conventional medical care, insisting: ‘Actually, it’s the exact opposite. They say, “Get your physical, get your medication, get your physical illnesses handled.’
