Tiffany Haddish just revealed who allegedly bit Beyoncé
Well that's solved the mystery of the millennium.
Well that's solved the mystery of the millennium.
Earlier this year, actress and comedian Tiffany Haddish revealed in an interview with GQ that, at a recent party she had attended with the Beyoncé, someone bit Beyoncé on the face.
Yes, you read that right – here’s Tiffany describing it in her own words, 'There was this actress there. That's just, like, doing the mostest. One of the most things she did? She bit Beyoncé in the face.'
Of course, this anecdote broke the Internet, with every commentator suddenly morphing into a pop-culture Poirot and rushing to work out who it could have been:
Some unsubstantiated guesses were made, but for a while it seemed like the real culprit would remain a mystery… until Haddish herself decided to apparently confirm the culprit yesterday.
So who is the alleged biter? Apparently, it's none other than Tony-nominated actress Sanaa Lathan, who is best known for her lead role in the award-winning movie Love & Basketball in 2000. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, after the interviewer had mentioned that Lathan was rumoured to be the culprit, Haddish replied: ‘I'm super good friends with her stepmom and her dad [Stan, a producer-director], and they were mad at me.'
She went on, ‘They were like, “Why would you do this to the family? You know, black actresses, you guys have to stick together, it's so hard for you guys to get work as it is, why would you try to ruin her career?"'

However, Tiffany Haddish argues that this isn’t how she saw it. Presumably referring to the fact that Beyoncé stopped her from confronting the biter, she added, ‘But I didn't try to ruin her career. I never said her name! I was just trying to say how Beyoncé kept me from goin' to jail that night. I coulda just shut my whole career down.’
Lathan has not responded to these latest allegations but took to Twitter in March when the story first emerged:
We’d be pretty excited to be in a room with Beyoncé, but we draw the line at biting, okay?
