The final of the talent show Britain's Got Talent will be screened at exactly the same time as The Voice UK, it has been revealed
We thought the ratings war between The Voice UK and Britain’s Got Talent had finally died down – but it seems that we were wrong. The BBC Vs. Simon Cowell battle has been reignited today, after it was revealed the final of BGT will go head to head with The Voice.
Simon has already been forced to move his ITV show once, after losing viewers to the BBC’s new singing show during the 30-minute period they overlapped on a Saturday evening.
And now it seems he could be set to lose out once again, after discovering the Britain’s Got Talent final, starting at 6:30pm on Saturday May 13, will clash with The Voice UK for a whopping 75 minutes.
This comes after ITV slammed the The Voice UK’s live edition last weekend for overrunning by three minutes.
It’s thought ITV’s latest move has left BBC bosses seething, with those at the top claiming the scheduling clash was ‘completely avoidable’.
‘This isn’t about winning the ratings battle for us because we know the final will be popular, it’s just that this is a completely avoidable situation,’ one insider told the Sun. ‘They could have played it later.
The source added: ‘ITV’s claims about ’dirty tricks’ with the three-minute overrun now look rather disingenuous.’
Meanwhile, ITV are sticking by their decision, with one insider explaining: ‘We are screening the final in a similar slot to previous years, and we have to accommodate rather a long family show.’
