Shilpa Shetty voted winner of Celebrity Big Brother

Shilpa Shetty last night voted the winner of Celebrity Big Brother 2007, bringing to an end the show's most controversial series ever. 'I can't believe it,' the Bollywood star screamed as her name was read out by Davina McCall.

With 63 per cent of the vote, Shilpa followed Jermaine Jackson, who was the show's runner-up, out of the house, and Dirk Benedict, who came in third place. Although visibly shocked at the show-reel of insults and bitching shown to her by host Davina, Shilpa remained composed and magnanimous to the end, refusing to brand her tormentors racist and telling a supportive studio audience: 'Things happen, people make mistakes and we all learn from them. I just want to thank all of Great Britain for giving me this fantastic opportunity to make my country proud.'
