First Look! Robert Pattinson steps back in time on set of new film Bel Ami
Forget vampires and pale facepaint, for his latest role Robert Pattinson steps back in time, spotted on the set of Bel Ami in full period get-up.
The Brit actor was in Budapest over the weekend, filming scenes for the flick in which he’ll star alongside Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci and Kristin Scott Thomas.
A far cry from his leading role in the Twilight Saga, R-Patz stars as Georges Duroy in the adaptation of Guy de Maupassant’s novel, who rises to power in Paris, after seducing the country’s most influential women.
As a result, the flick promises to be a far cry from your typical historical drama, with Pattinson confirming it all gets pretty steamy. He told MTV: ‘It is like the complete antithesis of what you normally think period dramas are about. In Paris, everybody was just going nuts. It was like the 1980s. Sex was kind of a weapon and a tool, and it’s odd.’
Taking a break from playing Edward Cullen, Pattinson will film a further two flicks – Unbound Captives alongside Hugh Jackman and Water for Elephants, with Reese Witherspoon – before embarking on the final chapter of the saga, Breaking Dawn.
