Oscar winner Sean Penn puts the breaks on divorce from wife Robin
Sean Penn has halted divorce proceedings for a second time after asking a California court to dismiss his case with wife Robin Wright Penn.
The on-again-off-again couple appear to have settled their problems after a rep for the Oscar-winning star confirmed that papers filed by Sean’s camp in April citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ have been ‘dismissed and taken out of the system.’
Divorce lawyer Lynn Soodik who is not involved in the case told People.com: ‘This appears to imply that they’re reconciling again. It’s unlikely Sean Penn would request a dismissal for any other reason.’
The Hollywood duo first called time on their marriage back in December 2007 after 11 years together, but four months later in 2008, the pair retracted the legal paperwork and rekindled their relationship.
Following Sean’s Oscar win for his role in political drama Milk – in which he failed to recognise Robin in his acceptance speech – the couple announced their second intention to divorce, with onlookers speculating Sean’s lack of recognition of his wife as one reason for the split.
Perhaps Robin looking fabulous at myriad red carpet outings in Cannes this week, where she is a member of this year’s jury, has prompted Sean to put the brakes on the separation.
