The singer's rendition of Aretha Franklin’s A Natural Woman failed to impress

The moment that every X Factor judge dreads, Louis Walsh was forced to send home one of his own contestants during last night’s dramatic X Factor showdown, after both Sami Brooks and Kitty Brucknell landed in the bottom two.

After being slammed by judges on Saturday’s show, it seems Sami’s final performance just didn’t impress, with Louis sending the singer home.

Faced with the casting vote, after Gary, Kelly and Tulisa all chose to vote off Sami, Louis told the two girls he was going to ‘go with my heart.’

‘I love both girls, but Kitty, you're not connecting with the public for some reason,’ he said. ‘Sami, you were incredible, you sang your heart out. Do I go with my head? Do I go with my heart?

'I'm going to go with my heart and the person I'm going to have to send home is Sami.'

This comes after the the two battled it out in the singoff, with Sami belting out Arethra Franklin’s A Natural Woman, and Kitty, Gaga’s The Edge of Glory.

Despite failing to impress the judges, Sami vowed to continue singing, telling the audience: 'I may not be able to sell a million albums, but I am going to sing for the rest of my life.'

Sami’s exit marks the end of a weekend of controversy, with both Louis and Tulisa coming under fire for accusing singer Mischa B of backstage bullying.
