Harry Potter star is rumoured to play Prince Harry in a film of the royal's life

Rupert Grint is rumoured to be taking on the role of Prince Harry in a new film of the young royal's life.

The Harry Potter star is reported to be one of the favourites to play the other famous Harry in the upcoming movie.

Rupert, 21, sports ginger hair - just the same as the prince - and is said to be up against teen favourite Robert Pattinson.

Robert, 23, is more well known for his leading role as vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight film series.

Internet gossip sites have been alive with rumours this week that the duo are battling for the title role in The Spare.

Director Peter Kominsky said he wanted to make the film because he feels 'a sense of compassion' for the prince.

'His parents break up in the most spectacularly public way, his mother dies in the most tragic and, again, public way and everything is picked over. He's a man born to no role, the heir and the spare,' he told the Daily Mail.

But he refused to comment on who would be taking over the lead role of the second-in-line to the throne.

'My personal approach as a director is that I read the script and people start to pop into my head,' added Peter.

The screenplay by Jeremy Brock is still being written, so casting for the film will not begin until next year at the earliest.
