The Twilight star is reportedly desperate to land a part in the new movie
Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson has made no secret of his desire to become a music star, and now it seems his wish could be about to come true. R-Patz has reportedly set his heart on playing late folk singer Jeff Buckley in a new biopic, and is already being tipped for the role.
Last week, it was rumoured he could be set to star in David Cronenberg’s upcoming flick Cosmopolis, opposite Brit beauty Keira Knightley.
And now it’s been revealed Rob is also in the running to play singer Jeff Buckley, in a new biopic about the folk star’s life.
In fact, insiders say Mr Pattinson has set his heart on the role, and is already doing everything he can to secure the lead.
‘Rob is obsessed with this project and is doing everything he can to land the part,’ on source told the Daily Express.
‘He has already told his business team this is his passion and they agree it could be the film that makes him a legitimate Oscar contender.’
Last year, producer Michelle Sy hinted that R-Patz was keen on the role, but insisted he would have to audition like everyone else.
‘I’ve met actors who are keen on the part and Robert was one,’ she said.
‘The actor must be able to play music and sing, or at least make it believable he can do that. Until we start auditions there’s no way we know who’s best for the part.’
A-listers Jared Leto, James Franco and James Marsden have also been tipped to play Buckley, who drowned in 1997, aged just 30.
