Harry tells X Factor winner Joe McElderry: ‘I envy your time with Cheryl Cole’

X Factor fan Prince Harry has told the show's winner Joe McElderry that he is ‘so jealous you got to spend weeks with Cheryl'.

A bystander confirmed ‘Harry made it clear that Cheryl definitely has the royal seal of approval'.

‘It was highly amusing.'

Perhaps the Prince, who took long-term girlfriend Chelsy Davy to watch the Grand Final on Sunday, would have preferred Cheryl to be mentoring him!

Harry is said to be ‘potty' about reality shows with The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent down as 'appointment TV'.

Girlfriend Chelsy has already been live audience for one programme this series, meeting the pair's top contestants John and Edward Grimes backstage at Fountain Studios. By the time the Final rolled around, Harry was said to be ‘torn between' Stacey Solomon and Joe.

The reality-loving pair also got a grand tour of the venue on Sunday, and said hello to their favourites.

It seems that Harry didn't get to spend as much time as he would have liked with the lovely Cheryl, however. Perhaps it had to do with Chelsy being there!

Meeting Joe again at a Monday night awards ceremony, he grinned: ‘I was trying to hide behind Simon Cowell and sneak in - but I couldn't get past security.'

Harry and Prince William congratulated the shell-shocked Geordie lad on his achievement.

Prince William told Joe warmly, 'You did really well and you had the whole of the North-East backing you'.

'I hope your single sells well.'

Meanwhile Harry may well have do to some grovelling to get back in Chelsy's good books. Luckily, the recently reunited pair will jet off on a sunshine holiday when their traditional Royal Christmas break is over.
