In an interview with talk show host Katie Couric, the 36-year-old actor explained that despite deciding to go their separate ways, the pair still have strong feelings for one another.
‘We love each other,’ the Lord of the Rings actor told Katie Couric on her TV show.
‘We’re a family. We’re going to be in each other’s lives for the rest of our lives.’
And it’s clear that Orlando means what he says: since the pair announced that their relationship had come to an end after six years (for which they were married for three), they have been photographed together numerous times with their son Flynn, enjoying family days out around New York where the trio live.
‘There’s no question that, you know, for the sake of our son and everything else, we’re going to support one another and love each other as parents to Flynn,’ he continued.
‘You know, life sometimes doesn’t work out exactly as we plan or hope for, but fortunately, we’re both adults, and we’re professionals, and we love and care about each other. And we, most of all, love our son.’
