Husband of actress Natascha McElhone found dead on his doorstep
The husband of British actress Natascha McElhone and one of the country’s top cosmetic surgeons has been found dead on his doorstep in London.
Martin Kelly, 42, was found slumped at the entrance to the couple’s home by a fellow doctor. It is believed he may have had a heart attack.
McElhone, who starred opposite George Clooney in sci-fi movie Solaris and Jim Carey in The Truman Show and is currently starring in the American hit series Californication, is pregnant with the couple’s third child and is flying back to Britain, after hearing the news whilst filming in the U.S.
Friends say the actress, who is mother to Theodore, eight, and Otis, five, is ‘devastated’.
Kelly was one of the UK’s leading plastic surgeons and known in the industry as the ‘king of rhinoplasty’. He was also a dedicated charity worker, who formed his own foundation, Facing The World, a charity treating children from poor countries with severe facial deformity.
McElhone’s father, the media pundit Roy Greenslade, said the family were in a state of shock: ‘It’s still a mystery about the death. It’s so unexpected. Such a fit, handsome, fighting fit young man of 42. So we are in a bit of a terrible state to be honest.’
He went on to say that the couple were about to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary and had enjoyed a ‘fairytale’ relationship.
