Brit actress Keira Knightley is set to boycott the Golden Globes in support of the writers strike, adding to a list of an estimated 70 stars who will not be attending.

Keira has been nominated for Best Actress for her role in Atonement, but will not be placing her fashionable feet on next Sunday’s red carpet.

The actress, and other stars represented by the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), are in ‘unanimous agreement’ not to ignore the action being taken by members of the Writers Guild of America union, who are picketing over royalties.

SAG’s president, Alan Rosenberg, said: ‘There appears to be unanimous agreement that Golden Globes actor nominees will not cross picket lines.’

Other A-list celebrities who might not show their faces include Julia Roberts, George Clooney, John Travolta, Denzel Washington, Cate Blanchett, Jodie Foster and Johnny Depp.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, who organises the event, are ‘making every effort to work out a solution’, and American television network NBC say they are sticking to plans to air the ceremony on 13 January.
