Kate Winslet insists she and Leonardo DiCaprio never had feelings for each other

'I know that’s really annoying to hear, sorry...'

Leonardo DiCaprio's Hairstyles
The night he won his Oscar, he graced the red carpet with Kate Winslet. He was single again – his last serious relationship with model Bar Refaeli finishing in early 2011. A five-month fling with Blake Lively fizzled out that same year. And, more recently in May, he ended a 12-month relationship with Nina Agdal, a 25-year-old (you guessed it) model. He’s reticent to discuss why he’s never settled down, but has admitted he’d like children, telling Rolling Stone magazine this year, ‘If it happens, it happens.’ For now he’s assumed the title of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor from George Clooney and is back on the party scene with a newly divorced Maguire. DiCaprio’s next film The Black Hand, about a New York police officer in the early 1900s, isn’t out until next year, allowing him more time to save the planet. ‘As an actor, I pretend for a living. I play fictitious characters often solving fictitious problems,’ he has said. ‘I believe mankind has looked at climate change in that same way: as if it were a fiction, as if pretending climate change wasn’t real would somehow make it go away. But I think we know better than that.’ (Words by Michelle Davis)

It’s time to face facts — Jack and Rose had so much chemistry that it’d be surprising to hear that Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio didn’t develop feelings for each other at some point. But according to Winslet, no — the two main stars of the Titanic cast never crossed that line. Well, they could have fooled us.

As a ton of us had crushes on both of them throughout childhood, it baffles us that Winslet never really saw DiCaprio as a romantic option. But in her eyes, she finds it pretty fortunate that they’re just friends. The Kate Winslet Leonardo DiCaprio Titanic lovestory was strictly kept onscreen.

'Luckily, and this is the fortunate thing, we never fancied each other,' she said on ITV’s Lorraine talk show.

'I know that’s really annoying to hear, sorry, but we really never did.'

In her eyes, it could have been the fact that filming the movie was intense. At the time of filming, DiCaprio was only 22 years old. Winslet was just a year younger.

These days, Winslet and DiCaprio are still maintaining their amazing friendship. In fact, it’s quite easy to believe the two are romantically linked in secret based on their closeness, chemistry, and willingness to vacation together.

'We were able to tease each other and we still do,' she said, in regards to their friendship. 'It’s really amazing.'

We’re just kind of glad that both Winslet and DiCaprio are thankful for Titanic for reasons besides the movie being such a huge box office hit — it started up a lifelong friendship that all of us can’t help but admire.
