Kate Garraway having second child at 41
Kate Garraway has joined a growing list of A-list women (Jennifer Lopez, Julia Roberts) in having children later in life – and is pregnant with her second child at 41.
The GMTV star, who already has a three-year-old daughter Darcey with husband of four years Derek Draper, has told friends she’s overjoyed with the news.
In a statement she said: ‘We are over the moon to be having another baby.
‘Darcey is very excited about having a new brother or sister to play with. We all can’t wait for the arrival.’
The baby is due in August – and talk of who will replace Kate on the sofa while she’s on maternity leave has already begun.
The new arrival means GMTV will be without another of its main stars for the second half of the year, after Fiona Phillips’ recent departure.
Fiona left the programme in December after 15 years at the helm and her replacement Emma Crosby is a relative newcomer.
The 31-year old was a little-known business presenter for Sky News until she was given the ITV1 role earlier this year.
But a spokeswoman for GMTV said they were thrilled for Garraway and insisted it was too early to look at who would stand in for her while she is on maternity leave.
