Hayden Panettiere's dad arrested for domestic violence

Hayden Panettiere's father has been released from custody on $50,000 bail after allegedly hitting the actress's mother.

Alan Panettiere, 49, was arrested in the early hours of Monday morning at the family's West Hollywood home following a fight with wife Lesley Vogel, 52.

The couple attended a dinner on Sunday night thrown by their Heroes star daughter Hayden to benefit the Whaleman Foundation. But the pair were seen arguing at the event, which was held at Eva Longoria Parker's restaurant, Beso.

An onlooker at the party told People magazine: 'When they were both about to leave, they had a heated argument outside the restaurant. They were doing a good amount of yelling.'

A Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman says that Alan struck Lesley one or two times on the cheek causing bruising. Another sheriff's official says that alcohol was involved in the incident.
