She’s Been Killing It On The Katwalk For Seven Years Now ...And she’s earned every second of her success. Missouri-raised Karlie wasn’t born into a famous family and was discovered the old fashioned way, at a charity fashion show at the age of 13. Her first catwalk season came in 2008, aged 16, and she was so in demand that she walked 31 shows in New York alone. KK has never looked back, working with some of the world’s biggest brands from Victoria’s Secret, to Kate Spade, to L’Oreal.
She Does Koding After taking some coding classes herself last summer, Karlie was so inspired that she’s encouraging others to do the same. The Kode With Karlie scholarship launched in April this year, allowing 20 girls aged between 13 and 18 to develop computer programming skills – an amazing move to help balance the male dominated tech-industry. ‘I think it's crucial that young women learn to code as early as possible to ensure that we have a voice in what the world looks like,’ she says. Anyone still believe that age-old notion that supermodels are airheads?
She LOVES A Kookie Remember when supermodels used to declare ridiculous things like ‘nothing tastes as good as skinny feels’? Well enter the new generation, led by the likes of Karlie and Jourdan Dunn, who are total foodie fanatics and renowned chefs. Karlie started her collaboration with Momofuku Milk Bar in 2012, bringing batches and batches of her gluten-free, dairy-free Kookies for all her supermodel mates to munch on backstage at fashion week. Suddenly it’s pretty obvious how she made all those famous friends, isn’t it? Oh and all proceeds go to FEED, providing school meals to children around the world, naturally.
She’s One Half Of Kaylor …And is therefore a joint leader / co-founder of #TheSquad. Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss define our friendship goals, with their road-trips, GIFable in-jokes and baking parties at Taylor’s apartment. They Insta-support all of eachother’s major achievements, even joining the other on their respective stages on a couple of occasions.
