David Beckham has taken to Instagram to defend his choice to let daughter Harper use a dummy.
The former footballer, who usually keeps quiet when it comes to stories about himself and his family, clearly felt the criticism had gone too far when a national paper wrote an article questioning why the four-year-old still used a pacifier.
In an impassioned rant, the 40-year-old father of four posted a screenshot of the offending article alongside a lengthy caption:
“Why do people feel they have the right to criticize a parent about their own children without having any facts??” wrote David.
“Everybody who has children knows that when they aren’t feeling well or have a fever you do what comforts them best and most of the time it’s a pacifier so those who criticize think twice about what you say about other people’s children because actually you have no right to criticize me as a parent…”
The article claimed that David and wife Victoria’s decision to give their daughter a dummy “risked stunting their daughter’s speech and were putting her teeth at risk of damage by letting her continue to use one”.

The post, which has since got over 570,000 likes and 18,000 comments of support, was in response to pictures taken of David and Harper walking around West Hollywood on Sunday.
Victoria has kept quiet on the subject, posting a video of her new Autumn/Winter 15 collection on Instagram just two hours after hubby David’s viral post.
Harper is the youngest and only daughter of David and Victoria and little sister to Brooklyn, 16, Romeo, 12 and Cruz 10. Do you agree with David? Did the article go too far?
