Dannii Minogue has finally opened up about her split from long term partner Kris Smith, revealing that her demanding career ultimately destroyed their relationship.

Former X Factor judge Dannii explained to Marie Claire Australia: 'Fame and work have always had an impact on my family since I went into this business at seven years of age.... It’s all I know.'

Dannii also spoke about combining her hectic work schedule with being a single mum, telling the magazine: 'How do I juggle everything now? Some days with ease, some days with difficulty.

'I have found that over the years, whatever happens, you have to roll with it.'

Talking about time away from her and Kris' two-year-old son, the reality judge admitted: 'The guilt of going back to work floods you.'

'I try to take it all in my stride, but when it affects my loved ones I feel an internal struggle with the love for my work,' she added.

But Dannii, who is currently based in Australia working as a judge on Australia's Got Talent, says she is determined not to uproot son Ethan again.

'He has his little routine now,' she said. 'He has swimming lessons; he has things that are important to him. I don’t want to unsettle him to follow me around the globe.'

Dannii and Manchester model Kris called time on their four year romance in April.
