Dane Bowers arrested after car crash, and uses Katie Price as 4am alibi

Dane Bowers was arrested yesterday morning following a car crash, and has tried to wriggle out of it by using Katie Price as his alibi.

The former Another Level singer told police that he couldn't have been driving, because he was with his ex-girlfriend, Katie Price, at 4am – the time of the crash, which happened outside Katie's Surrey home.

Dane and his friend were arrested for drink driving, but insisted the Vauxhall Tigra has been stolen and crashed by a thief.

In a move that is sure to upset Katie's estranged husband Peter Andre, Dane insists he couldn't have been driving – because he was with Katie at the time.

Dane and Katie dated for two years, until their split in 2000.

A source told The Sun: 'Exactly what he was doing with Jordan is not part of the investigation. She is just needed to verify where he was when he said.

'She will be asked if Mr Bowers drove away from the address or if she understands the car was taken.'

Married Dane was freed on bail later yesterday.

Meanwhile, Katie spent the whole of yesterday afternoon at the office of Fiona Shackleton, the divorce lawyer who represented Paul McCartney after his split from Heather Mills.

In the morning, she also pulled out of her appearance on Jonathan Ross's Friday night chat show.

The model was all set to discuss 'her separation from Peter Andre and her hopes for the future'.

But her new spokesman, appointed after she parted ways with Can Associates and her old manager Claire Powell, said today: 'She's not ready to talk that publicly about what's going on.'
