Goodbye GMTV, hello Daybreak! What do you think of ITV's new breakfast show?

ITV's new breakfast show, Daybreak, with Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles, started at 6am yesterday but is it any different to the old GMTV?

Christine and Adrian left BBC's The One Show amid rumours of a £10m pay packet to host the new show, while viewers were promised a new, exciting and different format to watch over their cornflakes.

But the opening show has left critics and viewers scratching their heads to spot the difference.

Two presenters, a sofa, weather, random news features, some interviews, celebrity gossip, and a ridiculously easy question to win some cash; Daybreak appears to be GMTV after a tiny facelift.

There was even some old GMTV presenters to ease us into the new show - Kate Garraway wearing her new entertainment editor's hat, John Stapleton and Dr Hilary Jones to mention a few.

The only really new items have been a section called Daybreakers, where viewers get to choose one of three quirky stories they want to learn more about, and Something Cool Before the Kids go to School, which gives younger viewers a chance to win a great prize.

The Daily Mail said Christine - who is dating footballer Frank Lampard - and Adrian look 'incrediby cosy', while The Guardian criticised the set for looking like the inside of Premier Inn hotel.

The Telegraph called the news reporting 'flabby and lacklustre', and numerous GMTV fans raged on Twitter to bring back the old show.

But what do you think of Daybreak? Has it made you start watching, or do you wish for the old days of Penny Smith and Fiona Phillips? Share your thoughts below!
