Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty clean up at MTV Europe Music Awards

TROUBLED STARS AMY WINEHOUSE and Pete Doherty cleaned up their acts at last night's MTV Europe Awards – with Amy winning an award and Pete putting in a winning performance.

Pete showed he's still got it with a great rendition of Babyshamble's new track, Delivery, while Amy picked up the Artists' Choice award, voted for by her peers.

The usually-wayward Pete was also on his best behaviour at the bash, held in Munich's Olympiahalle and hosted by Snoop Dogg, after being handed a suspended jail sentence on Monday for a string of motoring and drug offences.

Show organisers said he was, 'punctual, behaved professionally and was charming to everyone. We were pleasantly surprised.'

US star, Avril Lavigne, was a double winner, scooping an award for Best Solo Artist and Most Addictive Track for Girlfriend.

Rihanna, whose song, Umbrella, topped the UK chart for 10 weeks, was honoured with Best Urban Act, while Nelly Furtado won Album of the Year for Loose.

The only other Brits to pick up an award were Devon-born band, Muse, scooping Best Live Act. But poor old Justin Timberlake went home empty-handed even though he was nominated in four categories.
