She may be yet to confirm her pregnancy, but the French President's wife was looking swell while on holiday

She may still be keeping mum on her much-speculated pregnancy, but Carla Bruni-Sarkozy sure was looking swell when she stepped out on holiday with her husband yesterday.

The French President's wife showed off a noticeable bump beneath her loose fitting white kaftan, while walking with Nicolas at Bregancon fort in Bormes Les Mimosas, France.

Neither have commented on their upcoming arrival - or rumoured arrivals - as yet, but the President's father, Pal Sarkozy, confirmed in May that the couple are expecting their first child together.

Letting slip the family's exciting news, he told German newspaper Bild that he is ‘glad to be having a grandchild,’ but added he does not know the sex of the baby. Sarkozy senior added that neither Carla nor Nicolas 'want to know the sex of the child,' but gushed that 'I'm sure it's a girl who'll be as beautiful as Carla.'

The super-slim premiere’s wife first sparked rumours she could be expecting in April, when she stepped out at a memorial event sporting a suspiciously rounded tummy.

Carla also refused to answer directly when asked by a reporter: ‘Are you pregnant?’ – instead giving a rambling, cryptic response – and later pulled out of a planned appearance at the Cannes Film Festival.

It is rumoured Mrs Sarkozy is due this October.
