Leighton Meester is the new face of Herbal Essences

The Gossip Girl starlet has landed her first big beauty campaign

As Gossip Girl's perpetually-preened Blair Waldorf, Leighton Meester is no stranger to scene-stealing tresses, so it's no surprise that Herbal Essences has signed up the starlet as its latest face.

The 24-year-old actress will be the brand's global ambassador, starring in ad campaigns around the world.

Speaking to WWD on her new role, she talked about her experience of the brand: 'My first memory is those iconic commercials back in the day. My mom used it, too-the kind with the clear bottle with the flowers. Now it has a new look and everything is different. I started using it because Charles (Baker Strahan, Meester's hairdresser) uses it and he (is Herbal Essences' spokesperson).'

As for her must-have Herbal product, and she added: ' Tousle Me Softly. That is one of my favourite (products) and it's really a look that I love since my hair is stick straight.'
