FIRST LOOK: Katy Perry is back in a new arty ad campaign for ghd

Pop superstar Katy Perry makes her fourth appearance as the face of hair products firm ghd

She's previously dressed up as a mermaid and fairytale princess Snow White in their ads, and now Katy Perry is back in a stripped back black and white campaign for hair products firm ghd.

In her fourth set of adverts for the brand, Katy can be seen in a series of arty shots including staring into a mirror wearing an embellished dress, playing a game of chess with a mystery male companion and swinging from a sparkling chandelier.

The images, which were taken by acclaimed German photographer Ellen von Unwerth in Los Angeles at the end of Katy's world tour, also demonstrate the versatility of the singer's hairstyles – think a side ponytail and a side-swept fringe, long locks worn loose with a blunt fringe, and soft retro waves – all created with ghd's new super-strength Air hairdryer (£99 from the ghd web-store) and the brand's signature straightening irons.

Katy, who is the company's first global ambassador, said: 'It was fun to go a more natural route after playing characters in my last ghd campaign. Ellen von Unwerth captured both the playful and chic looks amazingly well.'

Previous campaigns have seen the pop star dress up as a mermaid, Snow White, a 1950s glamourpuss, a hippy chick and an '80s-inspired disco queen for the Leeds-based firm.
