    Just in time for summer

Uber has launched their very own electric bikes so that you can cycle around the city - just in time for summer.

There will be 350 bright red JUMP bikes in the borough of Islington so that commuters can opt to zip around the capital instead of driving or using public transport.

The bikes reach speeds of up to 15mph and feature integrated electric pedal-assist which 'responds to your effort as a rider, giving a boost when pedalling to get you up those hills easily'. Sorted.

It'll cost you £1 to unlock the bike and then 12p per minute, with your first five minutes free, and will be charged to your Uber account. They're GPS tracked and have built-in cable locks which have to be locked to end the trip.

The bikes are already available in the US & Canada and have recently launched in Berlin, Brussels, Lisbon and Paris - and Uber has plans to roll out the initiative throughout London in the coming months.

    So how does it work?

Use the Uber app to find and unlock nearby JUMP bikes in Islington and change your transport mode from ‘Rides’ to ‘Bikes’ at the top of the main screen. You’ll then see available bikes around you.

To book a bike, select one of the red JUMP bikes and confirm your reservation. The app will show you walking directions to the bike’s location. When you arrive scan the QR code on the handlebars to unlock the bike. Once you've finished your journey, open your Uber app for local parking guidance and lock your bike using the built-in cable lock to end the trip.

Jamie Heywood, Regional General Manager, Northern and Eastern Europe said: 'There is now one more transport alternative for the 3.5 million people who use the Uber app in the capital. Introducing JUMP bikes, will help make the city a cleaner place to live, and help London breathe.

'Over time, it's our goal to help people replace their car with their phone by offering a range of mobility options - whether cars, bikes or public transport - all in the Uber app.'

    Happy cycling!
