Park House Hotel in West Sussex is exactly what you want from an English country house hotel - affordable chic in beautiful surroundings.
Trundling along country roads we come to a gorgeous cottage that is to be our home for the duration of our stay. South Downs Cottage comes complete with large rooms, all mod cons (including an apple TV on the wall) and our own private garden. The honesty bar in the kitchen is a lovely touch, plus the huge bathroom packed with Aromatherapy Associates products goes down a storm.
After we’ve settled into our room, we make our way down to the Spa where I have the incredible Anne Semonin L’Experience facial - one of the best treatments I’ve ever had. We try to be all Zen in the relaxation room but decide that jumping from sauna to steam room is much more fun and end up lounging around the large open air pool trying to catch the last of the British summertime sun.

Evenings are spent in the dining room gorging on produce so fresh that it has just been plucked from the garden that afternoon, then curled up in front of a log fire with a glass of vino in hand - the perfect end to the night.
Dragging ourselves up and out from the most comfortable hotel bed ever is hard in the morning but the scrummy breakfast makes it all worthwhile.
Visiting Park House is like staying with old family friends, with the whole team so warm and welcoming. Many of our fellow guests are regulars – and this is probably the best recommendation a hotel can have!
