If wobbling around cobbled pavements in 6-inch heels on a Friday night really isn't your thing (ours neither!), then feast your eyes on our Top 10 cool-girls' heels to have you party ready for any summer night out.
Team fashion at Marie Claire are not huge fans of your typical spindly stiletto heel when it comes to going out, so we're finishing off our outfits with something a little cooler underfoot.
The catwalk was awash with wooden heels and clogs as the 70s trend took us by storm this season, so what better place to start when updating your summer heels. To channel true Bohemian vibes, then go all out with a clog; we're obsessed with the slip-on chunky style with no strap. They're beyond comfortable to stand in for hours; just don't try picking up pace as you're definitely not running anywhere in these.
All of our favourite designers have given the clog a go this summer from Gucci to Miu Miu and Saint Laurent. No fear if you're not planning a splurge on this shoe many of our high- street heros have saved the day! Look out for new-season colours which give the clog the update it needed.
Our second saviour? The slip-on mule. We fell in love with these last year when everyone opted for a chic black mule to update their workwear wardrobe; and while we wore the thin heel last season, this season we've gone all chunky for summer. We're obsessing over great textures and even prints which have been rolled out to ensure you have a truly standout mule.
If you really are afraid of the chunky style, which some can feel are unflattering on a sophisticated night out, then opt for a midi-skinny heel.
Step away from the towering stripper heel, though - no girls it's not a good look, however tall it makes you. A slightly lower heel means you have all the more comfort and grace while still looking uber chic. Try to get something a little alternative to the classic; we love a lace-up ankle strap or even a steep slip on. Keep colours and tones quite low-key so that your legs do all the talking.
Ooh la la!
