I'm calling it: this is the only party dress you'll need this season

Ladies, the search is over, I've found the perfect party dress - with a couple months to spare might I add - and I think you'll love it too.

It's by Self-Portrait, and before you say you already know about their collections, thank you very much, let me tell you see this season's offering is quite different.

There are still the lace cut-out dresses the label is known for, sure, but there are also a few more offbeat pieces in the mix.

My favourite is this monochrome balloon sleeve number with high neck, serving up some serious 70s vibes. It may look demure, but trust me, it's fitted in all the right places, and paired with some white ankle boots, will easily take you from office to party.

If you're looking for something a little bit sexier though, then try the polka dot ruffled mini dress which is just the right side of 80s chic, or a more romantic floral print number.

The dress-over-jeans combo is still in this season too, so you can definitely wear these during the day.

You know, in case you need an extra excuse to treat yourself...

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
