I couldn't stop seeing these shoes at London Fashion Week

Another season of London Fashion Week is over, and with it the street style looks that will inspire our autumn/winter wardrobe. While there were plenty of trends to pick from, including colour blocking (hot pink and burnt orange will be huge for spring) and tonal dressing, it was the accessories that truly stood out.

In particular: shoes. From Day 1 of London Fashion Week through to the end, there were two pairs of shoes that I saw on virtually every fashion editor (including myself) and influencer I met, a sure sign that they are worth investing in, which is good news as you can still buy them now, and one of them will only set you back £129...

The Kurt Geiger Orsan dad sandals

Hiking sandals are going nowhere fast, and this Kurt Geiger style is the one I kept seeing consistently at the shows. At one point, I counted three editors wearing them on the front row. Not only are they great to run around all day with, but they go with everything. Some editors wore them with billowy dresses, others with jeans and a blazer.

The Manu Atelier duck boots

Shop now: MANU ATELIER lace-up ankle boots for £468 from FARFETCH

For when sandal season is well and truly over, it's all about lace up boots, in Manu Atelier's duck boots were everywhere on the cobbles, paired with everything from jumpsuits to silk dresses. I myself wore them and can attest they are as comfortable as they are stylish.

Penny Goldstone

Penny Goldstone is the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire, covering everything from catwalk trends to royal fashion and the latest high street and Instagram must-haves.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
