How this Game of Thrones character was actually supposed to die

What fresh hell is this?!

We've been counting down the days until Game of Thrones season 7 for what feels like eternity, treated with massive spoilers and mouthing 'Oh, yeah!' when someone reminds us that so-and-so is dead now.

As the TV series has unfolded over the last six years, we've seen the demise of many a Lannister, from Tywin's toilet death, to Joffrey's unforgettable poisoning (we still see his purple face in our nightmares).

And as much as poor old Tommen's suicide remains one of the most 'WTF?' moments of season 6, we need to talk about when Myrcella Baratheon got the chop thanks to a poisonous kiss from Ellaria Sand.

The daughter of Cersei and Jamie Lannister died in her father's arms aboard a ship due for Kings Landing, but in Game of Thrones terms it was rather tame. All we saw was a bit of a nose bleed, and many were left wondering if she had actually died.

But it seems that the producers hadn't always had this particular death in mind when they were writing out Myrcella. Actress Nell Tiger Free, who played the part until her end in season five, has revealed that she was actually supposed to have a much grimmer death that was more on par with that of her evil brother, Joffrey.

Speaking to MYM Buzz, she confessed that her brains were meant to go 'all over the ship.'

'I don't know if I should say this, but originally what happened is they gave me those bashed up bananas with like blood, fake blood, and my brains were supposed to be all over the ship and stuff,' Nell admitted.

'I was so exited. I don't like gore, but, like, I knew they were just like bananas, so I was okay with it.'

However, at the last minute it seems that the masterminds behind the hit show decided against a grizzly death and instead wanted her 'death to reflect her life'.

'They wanted it to be sweet, which is rare for Game of Thrones,' she revealed.

We're gonna put it out there and say we are not expecting anything sweet about the upcoming season. Only a month to go...
