David Arquette's troubles began soon after his split with wife of 11 years, Courteney Cox. In the months following the separation, David shocked fans by seeming to admit an affair in a bizarre drunken rant on Howard Stern's US radio show, before revealing he was close to a nervous breakdown, and had hit the bottle since the split. The broken-hearted scream star was pictured falling out of several high-profile Hollywood events, before worried friends and family staged an intervention, and he was admitted to rehab to recover.
Chrisina Aguilera

Just months after her split from hubby Jordan Bratman, drunken Christina Aguilera was arrested 'for her own safety' after she and new beau Matt Rutler were spotted driving 'erratically' through Hollywood by police. 'She was not capable to taking care of herself,' a County Sheriff's spokesman said of the star in a statement. 'She was incapacitated.' Christina's stint in custody sparked concern from family and friends, worried she is heading for a breakdown.'Her drinking is out of control,' one insider told Us magazine, adding it ended in a dramatic row with her mother on New Year's Eve. 'She's a total mess.'
'Christina was so wasted before her guests arrived that her mother told her to lie down and sober up,' another insider tells the publication. 'Christina then yelled "Who do you think you are?" It was crazy!
Lindsay Lohan

She's no stranger to controversy, but 2010 was a bad year, even by Lindsay Lohan's standards. The troubled starlet hit a new low when she was sentenced to a whopping 90 days in jail, after being charged with drink driving. The tearful Mean Girls actress was pictured sobbing in court after being slapped with her sentence, but still managed to Tweet fans. The only 'bookings' that I'm familiar with are Disney Films, never thought that I'd be 'booking' into jail eeeks,' she wrote. The troubled starlet entered the prison to cheers and catcalls from inmates, before donning a (less-than-flattering) regulation orange jumpsuit. But LiLo spent just 14 of her sentenced 90 days behind bars, before heading to rehab. She's now embroiled in yet another legal battle, after being accused of stealing a £1,500 necklace.
Britney Spears

A sad moment in celebrity history, the world watched on in horror as Britney Spears endured a very public meltdown, during which she publicly shaved her head, and underwent a bitter divorce and custody battle that ultimately saw her lose her children. I sit there and I look back and I'm like, "I'm a smart person. What the hell was I thinking?"' Brit later said of her fall from grace, which saw her father take control of her estate, and issue a restraining order against her then boyfriend Adnan Ghalib. I've been through a lot in the past two or three years, and there's a lot that people don't know,' she added. Sometimes I think I get kind of lonely because you don't open the gate up that much, you know I mean?'
Amy Winehouse

Revealing just how low troubled songstress Amy Winehouse sunk during her battle with drugs and alcohol, her parents have recently spoken of how she was 'close to death twice' during her bleakest moments. The sorry starlet lost the support of many of her fans after appearing drunk on stage - on more than one occasion - with those close to her attributing many of her problems to then-hubby Blake Fielder-Civil. 'When she was on tour with him, he just followed her round like a lap dog and he did nothing,' Amy's mum revealed. 'So it's a case that he's earned his nobody position because he is a nobody. Having followed her own advice and finally headed to rehab, Amy's off the drugs, and could soon be set for a comeback. Watch this space.

He may be riding high after rejoining man band Take That, but singer Robbie Williams hasn't always had it so good. The singing mega star has suffered not just one, but two high-profile meltdowns since hitting the big time, after battling addictions to alcohol and prescription drugs. In 1995, the star spoke of how friend Elton John 'kidnapped' him forced him into rehab, a place he went again on his 33rd birthday, after taking 'heart stopping' amounts of medication. I would do 20 Vicodin in a night. I might have been 24 hours away from dying,' he recently recalled. I was so angry with myself that I had let myself get into that place again.'
Kelly Osbourne
When: 2009
Shooting to stardom after appearing in fly on the wall documentary The Osbournes, Rock offspring Kelly suffered an almighty meltdown in 2009, after battling a painkiller addiction for almost ten years. Describing the start of her drug issues, she said, 'I had my tonsils taken out (at age 13), and they gave me liquid Vicodin. 'I found, when I take this, people like me. I'm having fun, I'm not getting picked on. It became a confidence thing.' Kelly first entered rehab in 2004, followed by a second stint in 2005. However, the TV star has revealed it was third time lucky before she became clean. 'I knew if I didn't get help, I would die' she said after an 'intense relapse' in 2009. 'I'm getting a second chance, and I want to be present for it.'
Kristen Dunst

Kirsten Dunst worried friends and family with weeks of wild partying following her split from Razorlite rocker Johnny Borrell, and was finally coaxed into rehab, suffering from depression. 'She's been crying a lot lately,' a friend revealed at the time. 'Everybody hits that bottom where you feel [so] scared that that one heavy night of partying can really wake you up. It's good she's getting herself help.' Kirsten checked in to the Cirque Lodge Treatment Center in Utah, where Lindsay Lohan and Eva Mendes were also treated. 'I was struggling, and I had the opportunity to go somewhere and take care of myself,' the Spider-Man actress later told People. 'I was fortunate to have the resources to do it. My friends and family thought it was a good idea, too.'
