So it’s official!

While the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge caused the biggest baby news story this year, welcoming baby Prince Louis to the world just over a month ago, today’s baby news centres around Kate’s younger sister, Pippa.

It was reported back in April that Pippa Middleton and her husband of one year, James Matthews, were expecting their first child together, with the 34-year-old’s due date said to be in October.

Neither Pippa nor James had commented on the happy news however until this week, when Kate’s younger sister confirmed her happy news in a column for Waitrose Weekend.

‘I was lucky to pass the 12 week scan without suffering from morning sickness,’ Pippa explained in her column, confirming the pregnancy. ‘That meant I was able to carry on as normal.’

‘This being my first pregnancy, I had so many questions I felt were still unanswered,’ she continued, going on to explain how she had adapted her exercise regime.

‘I wanted to know things like, would I strain if I served in tennis, are all strokes of swimming safe, can I still do a normal yoga class if I avoided certain positions? Could I still work my abs?’

She continued: ‘It's particularly hard in the early months when you don't really want to share the news with everyone, not even your class instructor.’

‘I’ve noticed my body change and weight increase,’ she went on. ‘But through effective exercise and sports I feel that it's being strengthened to support a healthy pregnancy, birth and recovery.’

So it’s official.

Congratulations to Pippa and James!
