When Kate Middleton and Prince William hopped on the millennial bandwagon of announcing the birth of their new baby on Instagram, it raked up the likes so quickly that the internet lit up with reposts and angel face emojis.

The royal family had finally gone millennial, and we were here for it. Gone were the days when the town crier would spread the news, now we can find out everything we need to know from social media.

So what about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, expecting their first baby together this month?

Can we expect the same demure “Welcome to the family” post from Kensington Palace Instagram? Complete with a beaming photo of a sweetly swaddled baby held by Meghan exiting the hospital?

Well, no, but we can from the newly married couple’s own profile, @sussexroyal.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s new Instagram account, debuting yesterday caused a bit of a stir, with speculation rising as to why they broke off from the @KensingtonRoyal handle, which used to document the Fab Four’s life moments to their 7.3 million followers.

Harry and Meghan’s new handle, @sussexroyal, ‘the Official Instagram account of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’, is set to chronicle the good-doings of the expectant couple, so it would make sense therefore if it would be the debut platform for their bouncy baby.

There’s not long now to wait and see.
