Kristen Stewart explains the surprisingly positive effect that Donald Trump’s presidency has had on women

Kristen Stewart has made her opinions on Donald Trump’s presidency known, ripping into the 71-year-old whenever she gets the chance.
And for good reason – in the past few months he has attacked women’s reproductive rights, undermined women’s legal rights and weakened protections against gender-based violence. Even in the White House, the gender pay gap has actually tripled under his leadership.
However, in a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Kristen Stewart admitted that there is one surprisingly positive thing to come out of Donald Trump’s presidency, with women uniting across the world.
‘It’s obviously terrible what’s happening, but at the same time, it feels good to be part of a wider female community that is finally standing up for itself,’ she explained to Harper’s Bazaar. ‘I’ve never felt such a strong sense of community. So it’s brought us together.’
She continued: ‘The catalyst for this is regrettable, obviously, it’s shitty. But at the same time I think that you need something to stir things up in order to get people to come together and define their opinions and force them to be heard.’
It seems however that the feeling is mutual, with Donald Trump also making his thoughts on Kristen known, getting a little too invested in her break up from her Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson a few years back.

The 27-year-old actress used her opportunity hosting Saturday Night Live back in April to address the president directly and make a few digs about his previous comments.
‘I’m a little nervous to be hosting because I know that the President’s probably watching and I don’t think he likes me that much,’ Kirsten announced to the SNL crowd.
She continued: ‘Here’s how I know – four years ago I was dating this guy called Robert, and we broke up and then we got back together and for some reason it made Donald Trump go insane.’
Kristen went on to read a tweet by Trump about her previous relationship, ‘Robert Pattinson should not take back Kristen Stewart. She cheated on him like a dog & will do it again – just watch. He can do much better!’
‘Now I know what you’re thinking, that’s so crazy, the President tweeted about you once’, she continued, ‘no, the President tweeted about me 11 times.’
‘The President is not a huge fan of me, but that is so okay’ Kristen concluded. ‘And Donald, if you didn’t like me then, you’re really probably not going to like me now, because I’m hosting SNL and I’m like so gay, dude.’
