Jay-Z has finally spoken out about that elevator argument with Solange Knowles
'She's like a sister to me'
'She's like a sister to me'
We all remember the infamous Solange - Jay-Z post-Met Gala argument, with the 2014 elevator bust up going down as one of the entertainment industry's unsolved mysteries.
While the whole family put on a good front at the 2014 Met Gala, leaked CCTV footage released to TMZ later showed a huge argument take place in the elevator between Beyoncé's husband Jay-Z and her sister, Solange, for reasons still unknown to this day.
The footage shows Solange punch and kick at her sister's rapper husband while Beyoncé stands silently next to them, fuelling rumours of marital problems.
The three artists have remained tight-lipped about the situation, with the exception of a joint statement made at the time.
'As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident,' the statement read. 'But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologised to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.'
The statement continued: 'At the end of the day families have problems and we're no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We've put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.'

Just this week however, the 47-year-old rapper opened up about the incident (three years after it took place) in a candid interview with Rap Radar podcast hosts Elliott Wilson and Brian 'B.Dot' Miller.
'We had one disagreement ever. Before and after we've been cool,' he explained. 'She's like my sister. I will protect her. That's my sister, not my sister-in-law. My sister. Period.'
He continued: 'We've always had a great relationship. I fought my brothers and argued with my brothers my whole life. It just so happens, who we are, these things go into a different space. But it ain't nothing.'
We still don't know what caused the brawl, but knowing the Carter-Knowles family, we can expect some songs about it soon.
