As if we needed another reasons to love the Obamas

The Obamas are great at giving recommendations. After recently sharing his summer reading list – the former US president tipped Men Without Women by Haruki Murakami and American Spy by Lauren Wilkinson (only to name few) as his must-reads – Barack and Michelle Obama have now released their 2019 summer playlist, and it’s everything we’d expected.

‘With summer winding down, here’s a sampling of what Michelle and I have been listening to — some new, some old, some fast, some slow. Hope you enjoy,’ he wrote on Twitter, sharing a list of 44 (!) songs.

With Lil Nas X's Old Town Road holding the number one spot on Billboard's Hot 100 for a record-breaking 19 weeks, it’s no surprise that the country rap song made it onto the Obama’s playlist. Other favourites that made the cut are Lizzo’s Juice, Drake and Rihanna’s Too Good and Señorita by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello.

In addition to these newcomers, Barack and Michelle also recommend a good mix of classics such as Van Morrison’s Brown Eyed Girls, John Legend’s Alright (talking about a blast from the past) and Stevie Wonder’s Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing.

While the Obamas unfortunately don’t have their own Spotify account – someone seriously needs set those two up with one so that we can stay up to date with their musical preferences throughout the year – a quick search on the music app does show us that at least a dozen fans have replicated their playlist.

So sit back, stream, and relax.
