J.K. Rowling has revealed what her Patronus is (and you can find out what yours is, too)

In the wizarding world, the identity of a person's Patronus is highly significant – Harry, for example, has the same Patronus as his father, James, and Severus Snape's Patronus changed to be the same as the woman he was in love with, Lily Potter, when she died.

As huge fans, we're naturally always interested to discover the identity of a Harry Potter character's Patronus – we recently reported that Hermione's Patronus had been revealed – but now we know what the creator of the wizarding world's herself is.

Taking to Twitter yesterday, J.K. Rowling revealed to her followers that her Patronus takes the form of...

...Wait for it...

A heron.

The news comes after the new Patronus Test launched on Pottermore, home of all things Harry Potter related, meaning that all Potterheads can find out what creature would appear when they cast Expecto Patronum. But it turns out this wasn't the result the Harry Potter author got when she first took the test.

Writing on Twitter, J.K. said: 'As many of you have now realised, the @pottermore Patronus Test is finally live!

'I took the @pottermore test (which I wrote) ages ago when it was a work in progress and got a pine marten Patronus. I was happy, because...

'... my fondness for weaselly creatures is well documented. However, when we finalised the @pottermore test last week I took it again...

'... and found that it had changed (which, as we know, can happen). My new Patronus has personal associations and I like it even better...'

When asked by a fan if a Boggart test would also be launching, Rowling responded: 'No need. We all know what our Boggart would be!'

We wonder what the significance of a heron is to J.K. Rowling? Either way, it's definitely time to head over to Pottermore and take the test for ourselves...
