We round up the best looks from the red carpet, celebrity parties and Instagram

2016 was a big year in beauty. Celebrities changed their hair colour and length over 182 times with the most dramatic A-list hair transformations ever. There were literally thousands of red carpet events where the latest make-up trends, hairstyles and beauty crazes made their debuts. And Instagram had one of it's biggest years in beauty tutorials, with countless bloggers and vloggers showing their latest tips and tricks. But, out of all this, there were some looks that stood out like a shining beacon of light among the rest. Which is why we've rounded up the best beauty looks of 2016, so you can get inspired.

From Zoe Kravitz, who recently revealed her newly peroxided plaits, to Taylor Swift, who managed to bring back black lipstick with such a bang, both luxury and high street lipstick brands launched their own versions - the beauty of 2016 was varied and diverse. Zendaya brought back the bowl cut at the Met Gala, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley proved to us that a classic red lip and ballerina bun always looks chic (take this quiz to find your perfect red lipstick) and Alicia Keys reminded us that beauty can be bare.

Hair took centre stage this year too, with plaits being the firm favourite hairstyles amongst the stars once again and the L.O.B taking first place for favourite hair cut. The fringe also made many appearances, especially around fashion week and accessories made for a fashionable way to update a 'do. But perhaps the most fun that was had this year was with colour. From grey to gold, celebrities dabbled with techniques of dip-dye, ombre and tiger-eye as well as a rainbow of colours.
