We first met the Anya Hindmarch candles back in November 2017 and, to be honest, it was love at first sight. There was Baby Powder, Sun Lotion and Coffee each evoking personal memories and each one just as fabulous as the others. Anya has added three new scents (a fruity, a herbal and a floral) to the collection and they certainly don't disappoint.

Anya Hindmarch Toothpaste candle, £50

First up is Toothpaste, a super fresh zinger of a scent; think spearmint, grapefruit rind and rhubard stalk, which truly awakens the senses - and is our pick of the bunch. Shop now: Anya Hindmarch Toothpaste Small Candle £50 from anyahindmarch.com

Anya Hindmarch, New Candles, Washing powder and Lip balm

Washing Powder, as the name would suggest, is inspired by clean and sun-dried laundry and with notes of violet (the green notes of the leaf), cucumber, pine needles and honeysuckle, makes for a truly refreshing and unique scent. And, Lip Balm, which immediately evokes memories of classic cherry chapstick is a hypnotic blend of dark cherry, pomegranate, jasmine and musk. We see a lot of candles here at MC HQ, and we love them – let’s face it, who doesn’t? But every now and then something truly magnificent crosses our paths and we fall head-over-heels, truly-madly-deeply-in-love. Say hello to the fabulous new Anya Hindmarch candles.

Anya Hindmarch, who somehow found time to work on this project between making some of the best designer handbags out there, teamed up with master perfumer Lyn Harris, of Perfumer H and Miller Harris, to create a fragrance collection. We had the pleasure of being walked through the Sloane street store by Anya herself and as we walked passed the super-fun installation (make sure you check it out), she explained that she wanted to create a collection based on memories from family holidays to the smell of new babies. And how fragrance and memories are so tightly intertwined.

Anya Hindmarch, Sun Lotion Candle

And, it works because the beauty of it means that simply one sniff of each candle transports you to a specific time and place. When I was presented with Sun Lotion, a floral and citrus blend which burst with notes of Italian bergamot, Sicilian lemons and orange flowers, I was immediately transported to a recent trip abroad for my best friends wedding. And, when I experienced Baby Powder, where violet leaves, vanilla and musk mingle with mandarin and delicate rose petals, remembered cradling my niece for the first time.

There are three scents in total which come in two different sizes 175g (£50) and 700g (£150), the aforementioned Sun Lotion and Baby Powder as well as Coffee, which is the smoky and woody one in the trio - and they’re all pretty special. They’re all housed in heavy, thick-rimmed pots, which adds to the luxury and adorned with the playful Anya stickers we all love.

This is just the beginning of the fragrance line for Anya, and quite frankly we can’t wait to see what comes next.
