Jennifer Hudson proposes to her boyfriend

Actress Jennifer Hudson has turned the wedding proposal tradition on its head by proposing to her boyfriend, five months after he popped the question on her 27th birthday.

The Dreamgirls star decided she’d like to return the favour and double-bluffed her beau, David Otunga, by getting down on one knee on his birthday, with an engagement ring in hand.

Not to be outdone, Hudson popped the question back at Otunga – a Harvard-educated lawyer-turned-pro-wrestler - presenting him with a bespoke Neil Lane, geometric and diamond men’s engagement ring, featuring five carats of bling-a-ding-ding.

The renowned jeweller said of the Grammy-winning singer’s proposal: ‘Jennifer wanted to give him something really special when she asked David to marry her. It was very sentimental and romantic. ... They are really in love.’

Lane, who spent months coming up with the design with Hudson, described the piece as ‘masculine, yet has a lot of sparkle’. Glad to see a wrestler can embrace his feminine side!

The date of the impending nuptials has been kept firmly under wraps.
