Did the estranged pair check into the same New York hotel at the weekend?
Just days after R&B singer Chris Brown made a very public apology for his assault on Rihanna, news has surfaced that the pair checked into the same New York hotel this weekend.
The rumour mill has gone into overdrive after both singers were seen checking in separately into the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Manhattan.
American tabloid, the New York Post has reported that the couple spent the weekend there ‘under a cloak of secrecy’.
‘They spent the next two days coming and going in separate chauffeured vehicles from the underground garage of the 52-story Columbus Circle building,’ reports the newspaper.
It would seem the two singers went to great lengths to avoid the paparazzi glare by using decoy vehicles to throw waiting media off the scent. Neither performer was set to attend any public events in the Big Apple, prompting further speculation that the ‘coincidental’ weekend stay was carefully planned.
Twenty-year-old Brown is banned from seeing Rihanna under a restraining order issued in Los Angeles. However, U.S reports suggest Rihanna had already checked into the hotel.
Brown pleaded guilty to assault in June and will see out 1,400 hours of community service and serve a five-year probation after admitting an attack on Rihanna in February.
The singer was ordered to stay 50 yards from his ex-girlfriend at all times – aside from industry events when the distance is reduced to 10 yards.
If the pair have been holding clandestine meetings – even with Rihanna’s consent – Brown will have violated his court order and risks being charged again.
