The royals were impressed with the Blood Swept Lands And Seas Of Red installation, which contains 120,000 ceramic poppies.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry visited the spectacular poppy installation at the Tower of London this morning.

Having travelled back from the Belgium, where they kicked off the World War One commemorations yesterday, the royal trio walked through the spectacular Blood Swept Lands And Seas Of Red installation, which represents the hundreds of thousands of lives lost in the war.

Each of the ceramic poppies - eventually there will be 888,246 - was handmade by volunteers in Derby so that no two are the same.

Kate Middleton, Prince William and Prince Harry walked around the vast display before each planting a poppy of their own. Kate wore a simple blue L.K. Bennett dress for the occasion.
