Catherine Zeta-Jones reveals her kitchen cupboard beauty secrets

When it comes to beauty, you're more likely to find Catherine Zeta-Jones raiding the kitchen than reaching for expensive lotions and potions.

The 39-year-old actress, who has two children with husband Michael Douglas, has revealed the secrets behind her youthful beauty, and it reads more like your average supermarket shopping list. 'I rub a mixture of honey and salt all over my body to moisturise and exfoliate,' the Oscar-winner revealed in a recent interview.

'You wash it off and your skin is gorgeous. Also, I love to eat an apple after a meal, just to cleanse my teeth - they always look polished afterwards.'

As for those picture-perfect tumbling locks, and her unusual beauty regime strikes again. 'I do condition my hair with honey and beer.

'I smell like the bottom of a beer barrel for days afterwards but it's very good for the hair,' she added.

Onto her mega-watt smile, and she keeps her pearly-whites in tip-top shape not with lengthy whitening processes, but with fruit. 'The juice or pulp of strawberries contains malic acid which serves as an astringent and can lighten surface stains,' she explains. 'Pineapples work the same way.'

Youthful beauty, without the A-list price tag? Suddenly the kitchen cupboard seems all the more interesting!
