Fifty Shades of Grey movie enthusiasts can rest easy now as any threat to the upcoming film’s credibility has been sanctioned as Universal have settled the legal battle with makers of a porn parody version of the best-selling books.

Smash Pictures, who have made a blue movie adaptation of the story following the sexual pursuits of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey were being sued by Universal, makers of the mainstream Fifty Shades of Grey movie, over copyright issues.
According to Deadline, the lawsuit has now been settled with Smash Pictures paying a confidential sum to Universal who own the rights to the Fifty Shades of Grey books.

Universal City Studios and Fifty Shades of Grey originally sued Smash Pictures for trademark infringement following the release of the alternative Fifty Shades of Grey movie, Fifty Shades of Grey: A XXX Adaptation. The porn producers then (unsuccesfully) countersued the movie big wigs claiming the text belongs to the public domain as it was originally started on a blog.
